We got up at around 7 AM, and packed up our belongings. Our legs were tired and sore from the day before, but we decided to push through and make the most of it. At 7:30 we left Gooch Mountain Shelter. 1.1 miles after Gooch Mtn. Shelter we came across Gooch Gap. There we took a quick rest and had Belvita for breakfast. After that there was a nice view on top of Ramrock Mountain, 2.1 miles from Gooch Gap. The hike up was not that hard. (pic below)
We kept hiking for a while until we got to a stream. Since there was a stream right on the trail, we decided to stop and rest there, and eat lunch. We sat there and ate scrambled eggs and bacon with some soup. While there, we met a nice man who was also stopping there for a break and we chatted about our experience so far. After lunch, we cleaned our dishes, filled water, bid the man farewell, and continued our journey. It was all gradual climbing to Woody Gap. After Woody there was one climb and drop on the way that was kind of steep. Then there were small ups and downs.
We got to Jarrard Gap at about 2:30 PM, although there was still a lot of daylight left, I was very tired. The goal was to hike up and down Blood Mountain to Neils Gap, and then get picked up. But since I was exhausted we decided to call it a day and come back another day to finish Blood Mtn. We walked about a mile and a half off the trail to the main road where we got picked up by our family. Sadly, we were not able to achieve our goal that day, but I was sure we would come back and do it.
