At 8 AM my dad and I left our house to drive to Tesnatee Gap, which is where we last stopped. My mom gave us two Egg and Cheese sandwiches to have. On the way my dad got us Spicy Chicken Burgers from Popeyes. Yipeeeee! We ate them, and they were delicious! Once we arrived at Tesnatee Gap, it was 11 AM. So, we quickly put on our backpacks and resumed our hike on the Appalachian Trail.
We weren’t sure about where to stop for the night, so we decided to just walk until 7 PM, and look for campsites to stop at. The first part of the trail after the gap is a 1 mile uphill. Since we were fresh, the climb up was pretty easy and took us about 1/2 an hour. After the climb we were in Hogpen Gap. After that the hike was pretty easy, it was all gradual except for a steep down. It was 1 mile down from Sheep Rock Top, at mile 41.8. But after that it was all flat and some gradual climbs to mile marker 49.7. Once we got there, it was only about 6 PM, and Blue Mountain Shelter was only about 1/2 a mile away. The only problem is that it was a really steep uphill to the shelter. Uhhhhhh! 馃槱馃槱馃槱 It was a tremendous and treacherous climb up to Blue Mtn. Shelter. The .4 miles felt like a million miles! Especially after a loooooong day of hiking. But we were able to make it. Once we arrived at the shelter, it was around 6:30 PM. So we set up the tent, inflated the air mattresses, and took out the two Egg and Cheese sandwiches my mom made and ate them. They were very tasty. After that we quickly checked the weather, and saw that it was most likely going to rain on Saturday, June 5. We then went back to our tent and went to sleep.
