At 7:30 AM we got up and packed everything. It had rained heavily the last night, so the tent was covered and drenched in mud. At 8:30 we left. Before leaving, we decided to take the day slowly, since we only had 7 miles to hike, and we had until 2:30 PM. So, we had 6 hours to hike 7 miles.
We took our time, and hiked slowly. It actually felt nice to calmly hike for once. After a while of hiking, we got to Muskrat Creek Shelter at mile 81. By then it was 10:30 AM, so we decided to eat lunch there, and start up again at 12 PM. At the shelter, we met 2 other people, a dad and his son. There were also hiking on the trail. For lunch we had Honey Lime Chicken. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. After lunch, my dad and I rested. At 12, we started again. The hike to Deep Gap Parking wasn’t bad, it was pretty gradual. We also took some breaks here and there. Once we arrived at Deep Gap Parking it was 2. I was exhausted, and so was my dad. We rested and ate some Beef Jerky and Trail until 2:30, when our ride came. We had finished 85 miles on the Appalachian Trail.
