Day 20 hike to Roaring Fork Shelter

At 8 AM my dad and I got up, we took our time with everything, because after yesterday we wanted to rest up. We took showers, and had a nice breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and toast. By the time we left the farm it was 9:30 AM. At the start we had a huge 5 mile hike up to the top of the mountain, this was going to take us at least 3 hours to do. But we did it, slow and steady. At the top there was a surprise for us though. There were people at the top doing something called trail magic. Which was basically some free snacks for the A.T hikers to snack on while on the trail. We were so grateful for it, everyone was, this was such a generous thing that other people did. Once we got some food, we thanked the people there and went on our way.

We kept hiking for what seemed like forever, and then, we stumbled upon another trail magic. We were so lucky and thankful. At this trail magic they were serving dinner. They had spaghetti, salad, lemonade, beer, and all kinds of other snacks. It was such a refreshing and relaxing dinner. By now, me and my dad were hooked onto the trail magic, it was amazing. After that delicious dinner we still had another 6 miles to go, to get to our shelter. In about 3 miles we reached the top of Max Patch, a popular tourist destination. The view was pretty nice. At about 8 PM, we finally reached the shelter. It was super packed so we had to set up a tent and hope it didn’t rain. Then we got into our sleeping bags, and fell asleep.
