Day 23 hike to Jerry’s Cabin Shelter

We got at 8 AM, packed up everything, and then went down to the water source to fill water. Once we filled water and brushed our teeth, we started up on the trail at 8:45. In the morning we had a down, with some small ups to Allen Gap. At Allen Gap there was a cabin where the owners had spring water and gave us oatmeal cookies. After we filled water, we thanked them and headed on our way. On our way up to Little Laurel Shelter, where we would stop for lunch, we munched on the cookie. The hike up to the shelter was not bad and was our only big up for the day. Once we got to the shelter it was 1 PM, we ate Dal Rice for lunch, and then rested there a bit to regain energy. Once we started up again, we hiked 1.8 miles to the top, and from there it was downs and flat to the next shelter. There were some really nice views on the way, and it was very peaceful as well. By the time we got to the shelter it was 7 PM, and we were exhausted. We unpacked, and had some delicious Pad Thai with chicken for dinner, but when we went to hang the food, the bear cables were broken! So we just had to hang it on the broken cables and hope for the best.
