Another day and our last one on this trip ! Our plan was to hike all the way to Hot Springs that day. We did get up a bit late, in the morning, so our hike started at 9 AM. It was supposed to rain / snow throughout the day – we put on our rain jackets and ponchos, and headed off. After walking a few miles we hit another shelter, and stopped there to have a bit of breakfast. We had muffins, oreos, snickers, and other snacks. You can say the child in me was very happy 🙂 ! Once done, we packed up, and headed back on the trail. As we walked nearing the middle of the day, it actually started to snow! This was very exciting for me – to be hiking in the tranquility of nature with small white snow flakes falling all around us. (pic below)
The hike was not bad from there onward. Once we were about a mile away from Hot Springs, we started to get cell service, so my dad called a shuttle to see if they would be available to pick us up. Sadly, no one was. So instead my mom was going to come the next day, and pick us up. We would get our car some other time. When we arrived at Hot Springs, we stayed at the Laughing Heart Lodge. There were no more rooms available, so we had to sleep in the chapel with a bunch of other hikers. There were no beds, just a bunch of hikers on their sleeping bags. Once we unpacked, we went for dinner at the Spring Creek Tavern. The burgers there were delicious. We were so exhausted, but so full. That concluded that trip, and another small section, on the Appalachian Trail.
