Day 24 hike to Hogback Ridge Shelter

We woke up at 8:30 AM, and packed up our mats and bags from the shelter. We didn’t have much water left so while I went and filled water, my dad got our food and finished packing up. When I got to the water source, I spotted a rabbit drinking water from the pipe, but when I got closer to fill water it hopped away. Once I filled water I came back to the shelter, and my dad and I headed off at 9:15. (pic below)

We started the day with a hike up Big Butt Mountain, there were many blackberry bushes on the way up, but we didn’t spend time picking many. On the way up it was foggy, but not too bad. (pic below)

After we reached the top, we had a gradual 5 miles down to Flint Mountain Shelter. We stopped at Flint Mountain Shelter to eat lunch, there we had Macaroni and Cheese for lunch. After lunch we headed on our way to Devil’s Fork Gap. At the gap we found two water cans, which were left there by a shuttle driver. Once we filled water, we walked another 0.4 miles, and from there we had a steep 2.6 mile up. The climb up was very tiring and took us 2 hours. From the top we had 3 mile down and up to our shelter, which we then reached at 7:30 PM. At the shelter we set up, and ate Kathmandu Curry for dinner. The water source at the shelter was 0.3 miles away, but it was an easy hike to it, so we filled the bottles. Then we decided to take rest and end our day.
